Meet the Animals

  • Gladys the cat

    Gladys

Gladys is a sanctuary cat, having lived at Charlie’s Place for over 10 years. She welcomes any visitor with cuddles, but be sure to offer her a nap to sleep on or a treat to eat.

  • Duke the turkey

    Duke

Duke came to use with his two companions, Holly and Myrtle. Their previous home could no longer keep them, so they joined us and are looking for a new home to call their own.

  • Wally the sheep

    Wally

Wally was rescued as an orphan lamb, abandoned in a field. We raised him on the bottle and he loves to come over for hugs and his favourite treat - a gingernut biscuit!

  • Peanut the cockerel

    Peanut

Peanut joined us after he became aggressive in his previous home. He has since settled in with his own flock of hens who he protects very well.

  • Aero the pony

    Aero

Aero arrived from another sanctuary, after requiring specialist life-long care. He has Equine Metabolic Syndrome and his health is monitored closely to ensure he is happy and healthy.

  • Meatball the pig

    Meatball

Unable to stay in his previous home, Meatball joined us with his mum, Verity. He is full of character and loves running around with the other pigs.

  • Peppy the donkey

    Peppy

Peppy has been with us for many years after being rescued from a donkey dealer, where he was malnourished and needing extra care. He now loves spending his days with his pal Blue.

  • George & Geraldine the geese

    George & Geraldine

George and Geraldine are well-known at the sanctuary! Their sassy attitudes and affinity to nip volunteers on the bum make the pair some of Charlie’s Place’s most characterful residents.

  • Gloria the duck

    Gloria

Gloria is one of our rescued Aylesbury ducks. She was rescued from the meat industry but now has a second chance at life here at the sanctuary.
